π₯ Scarborough Hospital's Β£47m Emergency Centre could open in May
Scarborough Hospital's long-awaited Β£47 million Urgent and Emergency Care Centre (UECC) is just weeks away from opening. Originally scheduled for late 2024, the launch was delayed due to a boiler malfunction that required significant repair.
The new facility, located on Woodlands Drive, represents the largest capital investment ever made by the York and Scarborough NHS Trust and is set to nearly double the hospital's emergency care capacity. It includes state-of-the-art imaging equipment, a secure isolation unit for infectious diseases, and flexible ward layouts to manage future health crises. Health officials now expect the centre to be fully operational by early May following final testing and staff training. More
