Hey Scarborough! Here’s What’s Happening This Week!
If you’ve been waiting for the season to truly start, this weekend says it loud and clear. With the Filey Folk Festival in full swing, major live shows, family events, exhibitions, and workshops happening all over town, it’s one of the busiest weekends we’ve seen this year.
One of the big highlights? The Manfreds return to Scarborough Spa on Wednesday 8 May. This isn’t just a throwback show - it’s a real gig from a band that still lives and breathes every note. Expect harmonica, blues, and that unmistakable 60s pop energy.
There’s also a brand new A&E opening at Scarborough Hospital, an epic sea life mosaic to check out, and celebrations of local history in the libraries. Whether you’re heading out with family, looking for a concert, or chasing a sunset pint, Scarborough has something going on for you.
Scroll down for all the details - and we’ll see you out there!

🎸 A Night of Real Music: The Manfreds at the Spa - 8 May 🎟️
There’s a certain magic to a band that still plays like they mean every note - and The Manfreds have never lost that spark. On Wednesday 8 May, they’re bringing their rich blend of R&B, jazz, and 60s pop to Scarborough Spa, and it promises to be a night worth stepping out for.
I first saw them over 30 years ago - Paul Jones with that unmistakable harmonica, Tom McGuinness weaving blues through every riff - and what struck me then is what still stands out now: the sheer joy of it all. This isn’t a greatest hits nostalgia act. It’s a band of seasoned musicians who clearly still love being on stage together.
Yes, you’ll hear the classics like Do Wah Diddy Diddy (and it’ll be impossible not to sing along), but it’s the deeper cuts - the ones laced with soul and swing - that really show what they’re about.
It’s not flashy. It’s not forced. It’s just really, really good music, played with heart.
🎟️ Tickets are available via Ticketmaster, but if you ask me, it’s not about the ticket - it’s about the atmosphere, the energy, and the chance to hear a band still doing what they do best.
